Viper Soup Complex: EP Visualiser
Overview
Created for Maltese progressive rock band Viper Soup Complex, this live visualiser was designed to accompany the band's performances as a large-scale stage backdrop ahead of their album release. Built from the EP artwork, the piece transforms a static illustration into a continuously evolving visual experience, using subtle movement and gradual colour transitions to reflect the band's shift into a new creative era. Designed as a seamless one-hour loop in 4K, the visualiser enhances the live performance without distracting from it, creating an immersive atmosphere that evolves alongside the music.

Editing Approach
The project began by reconstructing the original artwork, separating individual elements in Photoshop and Illustrator to create a layered composition suitable for animation. These assets were then brought into After Effects, where movement, depth and environmental effects were introduced while preserving the character of the original illustration. A gradual progression through multiple colour palettes was carefully designed to symbolise the band's artistic evolution, allowing the visual language to shift almost imperceptibly over the course of the performance. The result is a long-form visual experience that balances subtle animation with technical precision, supporting the music while enriching the atmosphere of the live show.
